English Democrats London Candidate! Still no show!

We stated last month that England Watch would offer up a monthly update on the EDP candidates for the EU elections next May. The story so far!

In May this year Steve Uncles changed the name of one of his sites to inform us that he was a prospective EU candidate for the 2014 elections. Was there any form of selection process for his candidature or was a case of ‘self-selection’?

That matter aside, throughout the summer the EDP was informing anyone reading its sites that the nine ‘lead’ candidates would be announced at the party conference in September, only seven were forthcoming. The two not included in the list were London and the South East. The latter was quite surprising as Steve Uncles was publicising his candidacy for the South East and had been for four months.

In a statement the EDP informed its readers that the remaining two candidates would be announced after the National Council meeting in October. That meeting came and went with no names being given, though there was a notice that all would be revealed on the 1st of November.

That was a week ago and it seems that the EDP are still having problems finding someone willing to stand, and maybe fund the deposit, in London.

So, the candidates as we know them thus far are;

East of England
There are 7 seats available, in the 2009 election the EDP stood 7 candidates.
1. Robin Tilbrook.

East Midlands.
There are 5 seats available; in the 2009 election the EDP stood 5 candidates.
1. Kevin Sills.

London.
There are 8 seats available; in the 2009 election the EDP stood 8 candidates.
1. T.B.A.

North East England.
There are 3 seats available; in the 2009 election the EDP stood 3 candidates.
1. Kevin Riddiough.

North West England.
There are 8 seats available; in the 2009 election the EDP stood 8 candidates.
1. Stephen Morris.
2. Paul Rimmer.

South East England.
There are 10 seats available; in the 2009 election the EDP stood 10 candidates.
1. Steven Uncles.
2. Nathan King. (He has been named as a candidate but not for which region; therefore he has been placed in his ‘home’ region.)

South West England.
There are 6 seats available; in the 2009 election the EDP stood 6 candidates.
1. Alan England.

West Midlands.
There are 8 seats available, in the 2009 election the EDP stood 7 candidates*.
1. Derek Hilling.

Yorkshire and the Humber.
There are 6 seats available; in the 2009 election the EDP stood 6 candidates.
1. Christopher Beverley.

As we draw closer to the close of nominations in April 2014 more candidates will be added but some existing ones may be removed.

* In the 2009 elections there were only 7 seats in the West Midlands Region, an 8th was added in 2011.

If anyone knows of any errors in this post England Watch is happy to rectify them.
