The decline of the EDP in the European Elections 2014.

The decline of the EDP in the European Elections 2014.
There has been a total collapse of the EDP vote across England in the 2014 European elections, not only is its percentage of the vote down in all regions compared to 2009 but it is even lower than the first time the party stood, ten years ago, in 2004.

In the EDPs former heartland of the South East it has slumped to 0.76%, this is the second lowest percentage ever recorded by the EDP, in any Region, in any European Election, beaten only by the EDP result today in the capital city!

It is possible that the Uncles effect is still being felt in and around the South East!

English Democrat shambles in the South West.

The EDP campaign in the South West dissolves before it has even started. At a hustings debate for cantidates for the region the EDP was represented by Amanda Hopwood;

The hustings for prospective South West MEPs at Bournemouth University last Thursday night, according to the local press, was “a rather embarrassing affair” for the English Democrat representative, who “repeatedly apologised to the chair”, “struggled to answer questions” and admitted “I’m sorry. I haven’t prepared for this.”

The candidates for the E. U. election 2014 in the South West are;
1) Alan England.
2) Michael Blundell.
3) Clive Lavelle.
4) Barbara Wright.
5) Stephen Wright.
6) Raymond Carr.

Amanda Hopwood is not only from the S E not the S W but she is not even a lead candidate, she is number 3 in uncles list.

Where was the Lead candidate Alan England? Was it too much trouble to travel from his home in North Yorkshire?

It also seems to scupper his claim that the EDP are being barred from meetings in Universities in the S W.

England Watch pointed out earlier that there seemed no commitment to the party from EDP candidates in the S W, it seems to be highlighted by this rather sad episode.

A growing party said Mr Tilbrook.

Not in England it isn’t!

Overall totals of candidate in 2014 compared to when these seats were last fought in 2010 is;
In 2010 the EDP fought 96 Local elections!
In 2014 the EDP will fight 36 Local elections!

First prize goes to the North West for almost doubling the total from 2010, they would have done so if the Pendle guy had used his brain!

The number of members willing to link their name to the party is still in decline!

The EDP has managed to get 60 people to allow their names to be put forward as candidates for the European elections. 36 of these candidates also have local elections in their home authority, 18 are standing in local elections and 18 are not standing.

The 18 not standing include a number of members of the EDP National Council. One way of leading by example!

The EDP and the Elections in the South West Region.

The EDP and the Elections in the South West Region.

Apart from Bristol and Wiltshire the South West has never been a good area for the English Democrats and in recent years, since the Branch in Wiltshire resigned on-mass, it has struggled to find candidates.

The EDP again have a full slate of six candidates for the European Elections in the Region, though the Lead candidate actually lives in North Yorkshire and is also the Election Agent for the EDP in the North East From Gibraltar to Berwick with a comfort stop in Hambleton.

The candidates for the E. U. election 2014 are;
1) Alan England.
2) Michael Blundell.
3) Clive Lavelle.
4) Barbara Wright.
5) Stephen Wright.
6) Raymond Carr.

Local Elections in the South West.

On the same day as the E U elections there are a number of local authorities in the region holding elections. One of these is Bristol, in the past it has been quite a fertile city for the party.

In 2008 the EDP fielded 1 candidate in Bristol.
In 2009 the EDP fielded 5 candidates in Bristol.
In 2010 the EDP fielded 6 candidates in Bristol.
In 2011 the EDP fielded 7 candidates in Bristol.

In 2014 the EDP seem unable to field any candidates in Bristol.

This last fact is rather telling on the commitment to the EDP of the European Election candidates listed above.

The Lead candidate, Alan England, is ineligible as he lives hundreds of miles away, but of the other 5 candidates, 4 of them have stood as EDP candidates in Bristol in the past and at least 2 of them still live in the city and so, if they wanted to show added support to the EDP, could have raised the profile of the party by standing for election in the local elections, they are not.

In fact there are no EDP local election candidates standing in any of the local authority elections in the whole of the 6 historic counties in the South West.

All EDP Election Candidates in the South East Region.

The EDP in all Elections in the South East Region.

The South East has long been the heartland of the EDP, not any longer! True the EDP has managed to find the full slate of, 10, European election candidates from within the region but the local elections being held on the same day are a different story.
Steven Uncles is the EDP Chairman for the South East and the fact that he is in the middle of a court case regarding Electoral fraud may have had some influence on his inability to persuade members to stand in the local elections this month.

The South East Region covers nine counties and there are about 20+ councils with elections, in total about 500 council seats up for grabs. Chairman Mr Uncles, who is also the EDPs National Elections Director, (honest, no joke) has managed to put a total of one (1) candidate into the field, a former BNP member,in Maidstone.

Steve Uncles,

Amanda Hopwood,

Is this the same Simone Clark who as a BNP member was engaged to a top-ranking BNP member?

From the list below it is clear how the EDP has almost totally vanished from the South East since these seats were last fought in 2010.

The EDP and the London Region Elections.

The EDP and the London Region Elections.

London has never been a good area for the English Democrats. Despite it being the capital of England it has never warmed to the EDP, 2014 is even worse than normal!

True, they do have a full slate of eight candidates for the European Elections in the Region but only two of then actually live in London, the Lead Candidate hails from Somerset.

EDP Candidates for the European elections in London.

1) Jenny Knight
2) Matthew Roberts
3) Maggi Young
4) Graham Clipperton
5) Gary Butler
6) Nick Capp
7) Louise Dutton
8) Natalie Smith

It should cause some concern to a party that claims to be THE nationalist party for England that from a total population of well over eight millions the EDP is unable to find 8 people willing to declare themselves as candidates.

The election agent for London is Steve Uncles, he is also Lead candidate for the South East Region, where he lives. This is another case of EDP members having to do multiple role in order to make the party look bigger.

It may be a small point but, is Mrs Louise Uncles ‘commonly-known-as’ Louise Dutton? Or are the rules different for European Elections?

Local Elections

On the same day as the E U elections those for the London Boroughs are also being held, almost 2,000 seats on 32 councils.

Local Election candidate.
Sutton. Wallington South.. David Jeffreys.

These councils last had fully contested elections in 2010 when the EDP put up 20 candidates, this year the EDP have just one (1) candidate, in Sutton. This is the parties worse showing ever.

Bexley, 2010, 11….2014, 0.
Greenwich, 2010, 1….2014, 0.

Southwalk, 2010. 1 …..2014, 0.
Westminster, 2010. 1….2014, 0.
Sutton, 2010. 0…..2014, 1

There we have the ‘proof’ of Mr Tilbrook’s ‘growing party’;

2010 there were 20 EDP candidates in the London local elections.
2014 there is just 1 EDP candidate in the London local elections.
